I'd like to thank everyone involved in allowing me to write my very own book - I still can't believe I'm a published author and feel very proud and privileged every time I look at it! It was wonderful to be able to do something totally different and to take my mind off hospital, cancer and treatments!"
Amy took part in our workshops at The Great North Children's Hospital funded by The Teenage Cancer Trust. Amy spent several months working hard between hospital visits to produce this remarkable book and we are all incredibly proud of her.
We commenced our workshops with children in hospital in 2012, when we visited the haemodialysis ward at the Southampton General Hospital.
It was clear that art and creative writing provided therapeautic respite and our workshops were able to engage the children in an activity which allowed their imaginations to run wild, and gave them space to be able to escape from day to day hospital routine.
When my daughter Amy was suddenly diagnosed with leukaemia our life became a carousel of hospital, operations, medication, chemotherapy and the constant fear of 'catching something'.
What a wonderful experience it was working with Chocolate Muffin Publishing on the whole process of writing a book. Kate's caring, gentle approach allowed my daughter 'time out' from cancer and enabled her to start and believe in herself again. From the beginning right through to publication Kate has supported Amy in more ways than she knows and her confidence continues to grow to this day.
If you are ever given the opportunity to collaborate with Chocolate Muffin Publishing in any way grab it with both hands as it's a once in a lifetime opportunity you will never ever regret!
